How a creator platform grew paying creators 4x through community partners.
The platform served coaches, educators and every other kind of creator, mostly through paid ads that kept getting more expensive. Skillfi narrowed the market, sharpened the positioning and built a revenue-share partnership motion with the communities where professional coaches already gather. It's how our fractional GTM work goes: the right market, the right motion, real revenue.
Trying to win every creator, and winning too few.
The platform lets creators sell courses, coaching programs, memberships and digital products. It marketed to everyone, from hobby crafters to business coaches, almost entirely through paid social ads.
Ad costs kept rising, and most sign-ups were hobbyists who never earned enough to stay. Monthly churn sat at 6.5%. Against bigger all-in-one competitors, the message was generic and the pricing didn't stand out. The creators who stayed and grew, professional coaches and educators, were finding the platform by word of mouth in their own communities.
We were buying sign-ups from people who'd never make a living on us, while our best creators were finding us for free.
CEO, client
Pick the creators who grow, then reach them through who they trust.
This wasn't an affiliate program for individual fans. It was a market and channel decision: focus on professional coaches and educators, and partner with the communities, associations and certification bodies they already belong to. Launch campaigns were run with fractional marketing support.
From every creator to professional coaches
Data showed coaches and educators earning $5K+ a month stayed 4x longer. They became the core market, with messaging built around running a coaching business.
Pricing that grows with the creator
A simpler plan structure with lower transaction fees at higher tiers and a partner-member rate, so serious creators saved more as they grew.
Communities as the channel
Coaching associations, certification bodies and paid communities earn a revenue share on every creator they bring, plus co-hosted workshops and a migration service.
